Giant Binoculars - Discounted Pair Posted November 20, 2009 8:45 am
Zach at Garrett Optics has offered me a pair of the 45 degree 100 mm binoculars at a discount as per this memo:

I just wanted to let you know that we finally had a GT100-45 "second" pop up - it was just collimated and tweaked, but there is a small chip in the prism glass on one side (off-axis). I can send you a pic if you want - the performance impact is not detectable visually and you wouldn't notice it unless you took the eyepieces out and looked for it. It is far enough off-axis that it is not a problem, but we can't sell the binocular as unblemished. If you guys are still in the market for a blem, let me know and I can see what we can do on this unit. Usually we can offer a 20% discount on "seconds."

As I have a pair of Miyauchi giant binoculars, I am not interested in these, but as one of you may be, please consider this offer and let me know so I can let Zach know. With the discount applied, the cost should be about $800.00. Here is more info:

Call me at 504 481-2450 if you are interested (PAS members only!)

This would make a good raffle prize.

I had thought that as well. The problem is that it does not include the tripod. Since these binoculars are heavy, it requires a fairly substantial, thus expensive tripod.
